Desert Baby

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

I walked one hundred yards into the desert and found four porcelain toilets. I threw them each into discarded television sets. I tried to decode the mystery of the trash. A hip sneaker, a dozen empty spray paint cans, a puppet. Remnants of a bed, a garden hose, a Spirograph.

As if people just gave up. They upended their homes of the side of a desolate road, and shook everything out and got the hell out of there.

The Downward Spiral

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

I made one of these a while back, when I found a bunch of old pictures. I decided to make part two, and bring us up to the present day. I wish I had more photos, though. I can’t find any from my short-bleached-hair period (which predated Eminem, thankyou.) I’m pretty sure, too, at some point I was a large black man.

Some big moments from my adult life, apparently: 1) Finally trimming that mullet. 2) Realizing I could grow hair on my chin. 3) Deciding contacts were not worth the effort. 4) Realizing I could grow hair on the sides of my face. 5) Realizing that it was MUSTACHE TIME!

Something most have happened to me around age 9, when I got that killer Miami Vice outfit. I entered this really awkward stage that lasted for some time. I’m actually pretty excited that it might be ending any day now.

More pics from Malibu Lodge

Saturday, August 22nd, 2009

So many stories. Drunk girls hitting on us in Vancouver cause they thought we were Kings of Leon. All of us getting the nerve to walk under a significant water fall. Being purposefully stranded alone on a rock. Listening to the coolest kids from Nashville playing their songs. Hearing from the inventor of the mountain bike how he fell in love with Rawanda. Having an insanely powerful man and his awesome family humbly serve us endlessly, though we were just strangers. The four of us guys in our room waking each other with a trumpeting chorus of farts.

Oregon

Monday, June 22nd, 2009

Flew up to Oregon with ol’ Joe Hartzler to meet up with ol’ Chip Conrad and do an improv show. It went well, considering half the audience were straight laced church people and half were drunk people who kept yelling out “Vagisil.” And the fact none of them had ever heard of improv before. But we eventually got em and I think they had a good time.

Then Chip drove us out to this park and we saw this waterfall, which doesn’t look big, was was actually like 160′ tall. Crazy. I took a bunch of shots on my iPhone and combined them to make these. They get a lot bigger when you click them.

Polaroids

Thursday, May 21st, 2009

I made this about a year ago when I was messing around with stop motion and don’t think it’s on the site anywhere. I just found a ton of polaroids in some boxes so part 2 might be coming up soon. Hope you like it.

Headed to NYC

Monday, April 27th, 2009

Gonna take my first first class flight today. Not going to lie, more excited about that than anything else. And you know what? I’m going to park in the expensive parking. Right IN the airport. Ridiculous. Big time. TRY to stop me. Reimbursed suckas!

Going to spend maybe 48 hours there, which isn’t a lot, but will try to fit in 38 pizza slices. These are some pics I posted earlier the last time I got to go on a trip out there. Will try to take some more this time.

This is my mother playing Laser Tag

Saturday, January 3rd, 2009

This isn’t her posing. This is me running up to her (as she’s mid crouch, picking off kids) and me yelling “MOM!” I wish you could know her just so you could really feel the significance and magical qualities of this photograph. This is a very sweet, church-going, Mary Kay-selling, Cracker Barrel-loving grandmother of three. Tearing it UP.

A few notes: Although she is covered with laser sensors, most of what you see shining is part of her festive Christmas attire, as well as the large star-shaped earrings (legendary in my family.) The haze effect is either from the fogmachine pumping into the course, or from the fury unleashed within her warrior heart.

She's got a deadly aim. A deadly glamorous aim.

She's got a deadly aim. A deadly glamorous aim.

And in the second game, I’m pretty sure she beat me. MAGICAL!!!!
